As Lifetime Members of the Bloodstock Rock Society, the team of Rockers Digest are hotly anticipating a 6th visit to Catton Hall for Bloodstock Open Air. This year’s line-up is taking shape and here we present the latest news and at the bottom of this article are direct links to our reviews and photos of the past five events.
HOLY MOSES MAKE FIRST EVER UK FESTIVAL APPEARANCE
MANOWAR DRUMMER SCOTT COLUMBUS TO JOIN ROSS THE BOSS ON STAGE

German thrashers HOLY MOSES are the latest band to join the BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010 line up. Lead by feisty frontwoman SABINA CLASSEN, HOLY MOSES burst onto the international metal arena in the 80s, demanding attention with their violent, aggressive thrash and SABINA’s gargling-broken-glass vocals. A firm favourite in the underground thrash scene, HOLY MOSES have enjoyed a cult status for the duration of their long career, always staying true to their convictions and never deviating from their brutal thrash ethos.
In other BLOODSTOCK news, MANOWAR drummer SCOTT COLUMBUS has confirmed he will be joining ROSS THE BOSS on stage at the 10th anniversary event for a very special set. Half of MANOWAR on stage is still twice as metal as most, with their set promising to be one of the festival highlights as they tear through MANOWAR faves, and is not to be missed!
   
ONSLAUGHT MAKE FIRST EVER OUTDOOR UK FESTIVAL APPEARANCE
METAL TO THE MASSES WINNERS SNAKEBITE CONFIRMED

Legendary British thrashers ONSLAUGHT have confirmed that their first ever Outdoor UK festival appearance will take place at the 10th anniversary BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR.
Joining them will be METAL 2 THE MASSES winners SNAKEBITE. The four piece heavy metal band from South-East London won over BLOODSTOCK’s M2TM judges with their heart-stopping cocktail of classic rock groove, hell-for-leather thrash and a seemingly endless torrent of gargantuan riffs, earning them a slot on the bill of this prestigious festival.
    
TWISTED SISTER CONFIRMED FOR FRIDAY NIGHT HEADLINE SLOT

BOA is thrilled to confirm the final headline slot for the 10th anniversary festival will be taken by legendary US metallers TWISTED SISTER. Capturing the spirit of rebellion, the multi-million selling New Yorkers enjoyed a hugely successful career, adored by metal fans and feared by the “moral right”, before disbanding in the mid-80’s. Re-uniting in 2001 to headline the NEW YORK STEEL benefit concert in the wake of the Sept 11th attacks, the band made their first steps towards returning to the stage after fourteen years, delighting fans across the world.
    
EDGUY CONFIRMED

German power-metallers EDGUY also make a welcome return to the BLOODSTOCK stage, which the band are excited about gracing again. Charismatic frontman/metallic maniac TOBIAS SAMMET is especially looking forward to returning to the UK for EDGUY’s only UK Festival appearance:
“We’ve played Bloodstock twice and I am more than happy to be part of the 10th anniversary edition of the festival once more. I love playing England because I feel they understand us so well. I mean, despite the accent. I seriously love: Magnum, Robin Hood, tea, Def Leppard, John Wayne, I love England. I love the Indian cuisine, I admire mostly British bands, I love to hear proper English, and who am I to tell you are driving on the wrong side of the streets?”
   
ENSIFERUM CONFIRMED

Finnish warriors ENSIFERUM bring the battle back to BLOODSTOCK in 2010 making a welcome return to the main stage. These heroic Viking Metallers are no strangers to BOA, having laid waste to the stage in 2006. With four albums worth of aural artillery, these Finns are well-equipped to rally the metal warriors in attendance, ensuring victory at BOA’s Decennial celebration, at this exclusive festival appearance.
BLOODBATH, GORGOROTH & BLACK SPIDERS CONFIRMED

Swedish Death Metal Supergroup BLOODBATH have confirmed their first ever UK appearance at BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR’s 10th ANNIVERSARY Festival in Derbyshire this summer. The band, which features KATATONIA guitarist Anders ‘Blakkheim’ Nystrom and vocalist Jonas Renske, OPETH’s Mikael Akerfeldt and Martin ‘Axe’ Axenrot, and guitarist Per ‘Sodomizer’ Eriksson have chosen BLOODSTOCK as their debut UK performance, and their only show on these shores in 2010.
Legendary Black Metallers GORGOROTH will also join the line up at BOA 2010, marking the first ever UK festival performance for the Norwegians. Many prominent musicians from the Black Metal scene have performed under the GORGOROTH banner since their formation, with controversy remaining a constant wherever they showed up. After a bitter battle with former members to re-established the true rights of the GORGOROTH name, founder INFERNUS now returns with former band members PEST and TORMENTOR to cast a black cloud over Catton Hall for a set of the blackest of metal. With a reputation for highly visual and provocative live shows, their set at BOA 2010 is not to be missed.
Lastly, BLACK SPIDERS have been confirmed for Bloodstock 2010. These English hard rockers have been earning rave reviews across the music press, earning them the main support slot to Aussie-Rockers AIRBOURNE this coming March.
   
HEAVEN AND HELL SUNDAY NIGHT HEADLINERS

Heavy Metal Legends HEAVEN & HELL have been confirmed as headline act for BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010. The metal masters have chosen to headline the 10th anniversary of the festival, crowning an already incredible line up, befitting such an important milestone.
    
SONATA ARCTICA CONFIRMED

Finnish melodic metal masters SONATA ARCTICA will be making their only UK festival appearance of 2010 at this year’s 10th Anniversary of BLOODSTOCK.

After being forced to pull out in 2009, it is with great honour, anticipation and a touch of nerves that the Bloodstock team can confirm GWAR’s EXCLUSIVE return to the UK. The Grammy-nominated Scumdogs Of The Universe will be flying in from Antarctica to unleash hell on all in attendance. Frontmonster Oderus Urungus warns us of the impending orgy of bodily fluids, nuclear waste and all manner of murder and vulgarity.

DORO CONFIRMED

The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that German metallers DORO have been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2010. Fronted by former Warlock singer Doro Pesch, Doro the band have been the vehicle for the talents of this female vocal legend since Warlock’s demise following their 1987 album Triumph and Agony.

Swedish Prog-metal powerhouse ANDROMEDA are the fourth band to be added to the Bloodstock 10th Anniversary 2010 line up. Despite forming in 1999, the band have never before performed in the UK, meaning next year’s open air festival will mark the band’s UK debut.
